What kind of people fit in here
We hire people who are steady under pressure, respectful on site and comfortable working around busy roads, shopping centres, warehouses and high access jobs. Our crews deal with early starts, weather changes, tight municipal rules and the odd load-shedding interruption, so reliability matters more than talk. If you can work neatly, listen carefully and keep a site tidy, you will fit in well.
We are a rigging-only business, so the work is focused on supporting sign makers rather than competing with them. That means you will often work as part of a larger project team, with clear instructions and a proper chain of responsibility. We value people who know when to take initiative and when to ask the right question first.
Roles we hire for across Cape Town and Johannesburg
Our crews are built around practical site work. Depending on experience, interest and availability, we may look for people in the following roles:
- Rigging assistants for loading, site prep and support during installs or removals
- Senior rigging supervisors for planning work on site and leading smaller crews
- Access and lift support staff for scaffold, platform and height work
- Fleet and logistics support for tools, vehicles and equipment movement
- Safety-minded crew members who can follow method statements and site controls
We work from Paarden Eiland in Cape Town and Johannesburg, with jobs across the Western Cape and Gauteng. That includes places like Bellville, Somerset West, Paarl, Johannesburg CBD, Sandton, Midrand and the East Rand. Some days are local, other days mean travelling to a client site before sunrise.
What a working day can look like
No two days are the same. One week may be a billboard face change in the city, the next a sign removal at a retail park or a lighting access call at a factory. You may be helping with a site survey, a lift plan, scaffold access or an urgent maintenance visit. We also get emergency callouts when a sign has been damaged by wind or needs to come down quickly for safety.
In practice, this means checking access points, setting up barriers, loading equipment and working carefully around people, vehicles and live business operations. It is physical work and not every site is simple, but it is the kind of work where good habits matter every single time.
Safety is part of the job, not an extra
We expect every crew member to treat safety as part of the routine, not something to think about once a problem happens. Our teams are trained in scaffold access and first aid, and we keep to site rules, risk controls and method statements. If a job needs extra planning, we do the planning first.
- Safety awareness on rooftops, ladders, platforms and scaffold
- Good housekeeping around tools, cables and loading areas
- Clear communication with client teams and on-site security
- Understanding of access limits, weather and public safety
If you already have working at height experience, that is helpful. If not, but you learn quickly and follow instruction properly, we still want to hear from you.
Working with sign makers, not against them
Our clients are sign makers and fit-out teams who need reliable rigging support. That means you are there to help their work succeed, not to take over their client relationship. We keep our role clear, do the job properly and leave the site ready for the next trade. That is how long working relationships are built.
We also deal with homes and businesses in coastal and inland conditions, so the work can involve salty air in Cape Town, dust in parts of Gauteng and the usual wear that comes with weather and time. A careful crew makes a big difference to how long a sign lasts and how safe it stays.
How to apply with a CV
If you want to join us, send your CV through the enquiry form on our contact page and tell us what kind of work you have done before. If you have rigging, access, safety or vehicle experience, mention it clearly. If you have worked on sign installation, sign removal, servicing or maintenance visits, include that too.
We look for practical details, not a polished speech. Tell us where you are based, whether you can work in Cape Town or Johannesburg, and what sort of shifts or travel you can handle. If your background is in construction, events, maintenance or site work, that can also be useful.
- Include your CV in the enquiry form message
- List your location and available work areas
- Tell us about tickets, training or access experience
- Keep your contact details current so we can follow up
A place for people who want steady work
We are not looking for drama, just dependable people who take pride in finishing a job properly. Gareth van der Merwe leads the business with a small local team that includes operations, safety, access and client support. If that sounds like the sort of place you want to work in, send through your CV and we will review it when the next suitable opening comes up.
Good crews are built over time. We prefer people who arrive ready, pay attention and leave a site better than they found it. That is the standard we work to every day.
