When a sign shop needs extra hands on site, we step in with rigging, access planning and safe sign handling. Our crews work from Paarden Eiland and Johannesburg for clients across the Western Cape and Gauteng.

Help for sign makers who need a field crew

Sign Riggers supports sign makers, fabricators and installers who need a steady crew on site without giving away the client relationship. We handle the lifting, access and fixing work while you stay in control of the job. That means fewer delays, less back-and-forth and no need to send your own staff into awkward or unsafe positions.

We work on shopfront signs, fascia signs, pylons, wall signs, internal features and billboard face changes. Our teams are used to tight city sites, windy coastal locations and busy commercial parks where deliveries, parking and crane access all need to be planned properly.

What our support crews can take on

Our support service covers the practical side of sign work from first visit to final handover. We can assist with one-off callouts or repeat maintenance visits for rolled out site programmes across multiple branches.

  • Sign installation and sign removal
  • Sign servicing and maintenance visits
  • Lighting access and lamp replacement support
  • Site surveys and lift planning
  • Scaffold access and platform work
  • Billboard face changes and sign relocations
  • Emergency callouts for urgent site issues

Where a site needs a quick turn-around, we plan the crew, access gear and tools before arriving so there is less standing around on site.

Safe access, planning and working at height

Every job starts with a look at access, ground conditions and the safest way to reach the fixing points. Our supervisors are trained for scaffold, platform and working-at-height procedures, and the team includes first-aid trained staff for on-site support. If the site needs lift planning, we account for the ground surface, overhead obstructions, weather and any municipal or property rules that affect the work.

In Cape Town, coastal wind and salt air can make fittings, seals and lighting compartments harder to servcie. In Johannesburg, we often plan around traffic access, mall rules and busy business hours. On both sides, clear planning helps reduce risk and keeps the job moving.

A crew that stays in its lane

We are a rigging crew, not a sign shop. That matters because many of our clients already have a designer, fabricator or account manager they trust. Our role is to support that business on site and never compete with it. We turn up, do the physical work properly, and keep the handover tidy so your customer sees one coordinated team.

If you need a crew that understands the pressure of commercial signage work, we fit in easily. We know how to work around client branding, tenant requirements and building management instructions without causing fuss.

Where our support teams operate

We are based in Paarden Eiland, Cape Town and in Johannesburg, which gives us strong coverage for repeat support work across both provinces. Regular service areas include Paarden Eiland, Bellville, Somerset West and Paarl in the Western Cape, as well as Johannesburg CBD, Sandton, Midrand and the East Rand in Gauteng.

  • Western Cape site support for coastal and inland properties
  • Gauteng support for retail, industrial and corporate sites
  • Branch roll-outs and maintenance schedules across multiple locations

Because we are already set up for regional work, we can often plan jobs more efficiently when a sign maker has several sites on the go.

How to book support with Sign Riggers

Clients reach us through the enquiry form on our contact page. Send the site details, the sign type, the location and any timing constraints, and we will come back with the next step. If there is a height issue, access restriction or urgent repair, include that upfront so we can plan the right crew and equipment.

Our office team, led by Gareth van der Merwe with support from Thandi Mokoena, Liam Jacobs, Sibusiso Dlamini, Ayesha Daniels and Pieter Coetzee, keeps the booking process straight forward. You get practical feedback, a clear plan and a crew that knows what it is there to do.
