Crew Bases

Our crews work from practical bases that support fast response across two main regions. From these hubs we plan site visits, removals, installations and maintenance runs.

Crew Bases

Two crew bases, one working method

Our work starts from two fixed bases, one in Paarden Eiland and one in Johannesburg, so crews can get onto the road quickly and arrive with the right access gear, tools and safety kit. That matters when a sign has to come down before a tenant handover, or when a new shopfront install has a tight opening window and the mall only allows work after trading hours.

We do rigging only. That means sign makers can keep their client relationship while we handle the practical side on site, from first visit to final handover. It also keeps the chain of responsibility clear, which is important for lifting, work at height and municipal or site rules that need proper paperwork.

How to choose the right base for your job

If your site is in the Western Cape, the Paarden Eiland crew is usually the right starting point for Cape Town, Bellville, Somerset West and Paarl. For Gauteng jobs, the Johannesburg team covers the CBD, Sandton, Midrand and the East Rand. We also plan around traffic, loading bay access and after-hours restrictions so the crew on the ground is the one best placed for the job, not just the closest pin on a map.

  • Choose Paarden Eiland for Cape Town metro, northern suburbs and coastal routes
  • Choose Johannesburg for inner city, business parks, retail nodes and industrial areas
  • Choose planned visits when the sign needs access gear, permits or landlord coordination
  • Choose emergency callouts when a sign is damaged, loose or unsafe

What each base supports on site

Both bases are set up for the same kind of practical work, so the crew you get is ready for installation, removal and servicing without long delays. We handle sign relocations, billboard face changes, lighting access and maintenance visits, including jobs where the sign sits above a canopy, along a parapet or inside a busy forecourt.

  • Sign installation and removals for shopfronts, pylon signs and fascia signs
  • Lighting access for checks, lamp changes and fault finding
  • Site surveys before lift planning and scaffold access is approved
  • Platform work for higher or awkward positions where ladders are not suitable
  • Emergency callouts when weather, impact damage or loose fixings create risk

Safety, access and the right paperwork

Every base works to the same safety standard. Our crews are scaffold trained, first-aid trained and used to working with access equipment where space is tight or the ground is uneven. On some sites that means coordinating with security and body corporates, on others it means dealing with coastal humidity, strong wind or load-shedding that affects lighting checks and testing.

We also plan for the job before we arrive. That can include lift planning, route checks for vehicles and a quick review of where the sign sits in relation to traffic, pedestrians or live trading areas. If a job needs a quiet window after hours, we plan for that. If the site has municipal rules or landlord conditions, we work to them and keep the process tidy.

Cape Town base: Paarden Eiland and surrounding routes

The Paarden Eiland base is well placed for Cape Town sign work that needs a fast response and practical access to arterial roads. From there we can get to Bellville, Somerset West and Paarl without wasting time in the wrong direction, and that helps when a removal has to be done before a refit or when a retail tenant needs the fascia cleared overnight.

This base is also useful for coastal work where salt air and wind can shorten the life of fixings and fittings. A maintenance visit on the coast is often not just about the face of the sign, but the brackets, electrics and mounting points too. We see a lot of that in mixed retail, industrial and roadside sites.

Johannesburg base: city, nodes and industrial routes

The Johannesburg crew base supports work across the CBD, Sandton, Midrand and the East Rand, plus surrounding business districts and industrial sites. It is suited to high traffic areas where timing matters, especially when access is limited to early mornings or after trading hours.

For sign makers, this means one crew can handle a face change in a retail centre, a removal on a high street frontage and a follow-up maintenance call at a warehouse park in the same week. It keeps travel time sensible and makes it easier to schedule repeat visits without disrupting the client on site, or the shop owner below.

Working with sign makers across both regions

Our crew bases are there to support sign shops, not compete with them. If you already sell the sign, we take care of the heavy lifting, access work and on-site fitting. That keeps the job aligned with your scope and helps protect your client relationship from start to finish.

For recurring work, we can also build a simple maintenance rhythm around your client list, so the same familiar team returns for inspections, servicing and replacements. It saves time, reduces callout stress and gives sign makers a practical crew they can rely on when the job needs height, muscle and proper planning.

Questions we get asked

Which areas do your crew bases cover?

Paarden Eiland covers Cape Town and the wider Western Cape routes including Bellville, Somerset West and Paarl. Johannesburg covers the CBD, Sandton, Midrand and the East Rand, with nearby industrial and retail areas by arrangement.

Do you work directly for end clients?

We work for sign makers and related trade clients on a rigging only basis. That way the sign maker keeps the client relationship while we manage installation, removal, servicing and access work on site.

Can you handle urgent or after-hours work?

Yes. We plan emergency callouts, after-hours installs and removals where site rules allow it. The crew base used will depend on the location, access requirements and how quickly the job needs to happen.
